A year with Michał – time to sum it up… :) – 29.12.2012

Normally, the New Year is celebrated on January 1, but for each fan, 2012 symbolically began a week later. On exactly January 8, Michał performed at the Weglowy Targ in Gdansk in front of several thousand people during the 20th jubilee final of the Great Orchestra of Chistmas Charity. It was then that the artist and his band performed live songs from their debut “XI” EP for the first time”.

From the very beginning of the year, Michał did not slow down and already in the middle of January he started a promotional Empik stores tour in Pland. The first meeting with fans took place in Łódź. In January, the vocalist visited Poznan, Wroclaw and Warsaw in the first weekend of February and also came to Empik in Katowice and Krakow – from this meeting a television coverage of the popular TVN program “Co za Tydzień” was broadcast. In February Michał went to Gdańsk, Rzeszów and his native Jasło. In each of the nine cities, a large group of fans came especially for him. The artist willingly shared with them his reflections after the release of the first album, talked about plans for the future and answered many questions, each time signing copies of his album and posing to hundreds of photos with his admirers. As a result of his Empik press tour, there were also interviews published both in local media and on well-known sites like plejada.pl, tvn.pl and interia.tv.

Szpak’s next special performance in the past year was a solo recital at the Beata Tyszkiewicz Foundation charity ball in Poznan. It culminated with the unique cover of “I will always love you” from Whitney Houston’s repertoire, with Michał honouring the memory of the singer who had passed away a few days earlier.

At the beginning of March, the artist, together with a large film crew, travelled to Swierkaniec in southern Poland to spend two intense days filming his first music video in an atmospheric castle to the song “Rewolucja”. A surprise for the fans was prepared for the occasion; fans were to shoot their own music video to the song with the winner having the opportunity to be behind the scenes of the official music video. In the same month, there was also a visit to the Szymon Majewski’s “Szymon na zywo” TV show. Also, in March, the vocalist appeared at a VIP event in Katowice and celebrated the premiere of his music video with his fans at The Eve Club in Warsaw. While his fans were enjoying the new music video, he and his bands were preparing for a series of spring concerts.

Michał has once again found time to for a noble cause. The artist took part in the promotion of “Read! See More” social campaign aimed at improving the image of Polish literacy.
The new concert season kicked off with Michał’s recital in Gorzów Wielkopolski in April, and oudoor madness began with the start of May performances in Jelenia Góra and in Czeladź.

In May Michał also gave a concert in Krotoszyn. That month, however, was particularly important for the fans. It was when the OFC website was launched, where you can keep track of information on everything related to Michał Szpak.

June, however, was marked by one of the most spectacular performances since Michał’s time of X Factor. On the first of June during the National Polish Song Festival in Opole our Colorful Bird presented an amazing show at “Crazy 60s” concert, performing the song “Płonie Stodoła” from Czesław Niemen’s repertoire. Both the performance and the original creation of the artist were still commented on long afterwards in the media and on the Internet. Michał could not miss the Jasło Days, where for the second year in a row he attracted big crowds.

In August, the vocalist recorded a show on the well-known show “Name That Tune” on TVP1. This month he also did something unprecedented: on August 26, he gave two concerts in one day! First, he performed at Krakowskie Przedmiescie in Warsaw, and then warmed up the audience at an outdoor event in Lubawa, two hundred kilometers away. Incredible achievement, especially during illness, but Michał did not want to disappoint his fans and sang bravely on two stages in a few hours.

In September, with full physical and vocal strength, the artist gave an extremely successful show in Charsznica. On the 16th of September in Rzeszów his last outdoor concert of this season took place.

In October, Szpak had the opportunity to sing on the famous stage at the Congress Hall of the Palace of Culture and Science in the capital during a recital at a private event.

November 11 is Poland’s National Day, and for us fans, the date of an important and at the same time unusual performance in Michał’s career. That day he sang in a duet with Marta Bizoń during the November Night Cabaret in Tarnów, broadcast on TVP2. On November 25, at the Teatr Dramatyczny in Bialystok, the premiere of the dance and acting spectacle “I MOVE YOU” took place, for which Michał recorded the Italian song “Mi mancherai”. The artist also appeared at the premiere to applaud Paulina Biernat, her partner from “Dancing with the Stars”, performing on stage. However, the next day, on the 22nd anniversary of his birthday, he visited Prostki, where he visited a disabled fan, Kinga. The meeting was organized by OFC and the village mayor.

During the last month of the year, an exceptional event took place. December 8 is “Grodzien Apetyt na Czereśnie”, a concert at the Capitol Theater preceded by an annual rally of fans with the participation of the vocalist, traditionally of a birthday affair. Considering the setlist created especially for the faithful devotees, as well as thanks to the amazing visual setting with the use of lamps, lasers and pyrotechnics and the artist being in perfect form as well as the band, this concert was unanimously declared as one of the most effective not only in the past year, Michał’s entire career.

This is not the end of excitement for 2012. At the very end, Michał prepared extraordinary fireworks, a performance at the New Year’s Eve conert in Wroclaw organised by TVP2. Fans have no other choice but to travel to Wroclaw Market Square or turn on the TV to see Szpak’s another unforgettable show.

And what about the new year? The premiere of the new single and long-awaited LP! 😀

Official Fan Club would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who regularly visits this site – we hope that in 2013 there will be even more of you 🙂 Szpuck’n’Roll!
